In this episode, we speak to @de.criminalize to find out more about border politics, racialisation and criminalisation. Listen here: youtube, spotify, apple podcast.
We talk about how criminalising the borders is a deeply racialised process that aims at destroying the lives of immigrants. We also talk about the contradiction between the image Europe tries to project versus the violence necessary to keep borders up.
Imke and Ines talk about laws and policies that facilitate racialised violence, about their experience working in these spaces of hidden violence and how to understand the structural and historical nature of racialised violence. We also speak about how fascism should not be understood as ‘on the rise’ rather, fascist violence has always existed on the borders, and how any meaningful anti-racist movement needs to incorporate border politics.
